Now booking | September 4-15, 2013; 2013/14 festivals
Taught from a young age by the greatest names in Shetland fiddling, Dr Tom Anderson MBE and Willie Hunter, Shetland fiddler Jenna Reid is one of the finest talents ever to grace the Scottish music scene. Jenna has appeared all worldwide with Filska, Deaf Shepherd and Dochas, and has recently joined the ranks of Scotland's top fiddle band, Blazin' Fiddles.
Jenna has performed across the USA and Europe with many musicians and singers, most notably, Julie Fowlis, The Unusual Suspects, Fiddlers’ Bid and The Finlay MacDonald Band. She was a guest performer on the third and fourth series of Transatlantic Sessions, where she played alongside Aly Bain, Jerry Douglas and Martha Wainwright.
Her debut solo album was released in 2005, with Jenna named Best Up and Coming Artist at the Scots Trad Music Awards the same year. She was further nominated as Best Instrumentalist at the 2007 awards.
Jenna's third album will be released in March 2012 on Lofoten Records. This will be the second release on the label, following on from the album "Escape, The Story of Jan Baalsrud and the Shetland Bus"; an original suite composed by Jenna and her sister, Bethany Reid.
- "She and guitarist Kevin MacKenzie were terrific together, as he added snap and swing to her lissom hornpipes, while sister Bethany frequently left the keyboards to duet with her on fiddle, including a lovely rendition of Simon Thoumire's Skye Diving Waltz, before Jenna swooped off into Janine's Reel...".The Scotsman
